Meet the Care Givers

The Senior Connection, Inc. currently staffs about 30 full and part-time care givers. These care givers provide necessary senior services in our mountain community. All of our care givers go through an extensive application process. Reference checks, background check, and certifications are required to be a part of our team. We only contact with professional care givers to provide the excellent service and care to our valued mountain seniors. Here's what some of our care givers have to say about their careers:

Kim (age 44) – 1 year service

“I began doing this for a living because I have a sincere fondness for Senior’s.  I enjoy being needed and I find working with Senior’s very interesting, while learning things from them and enjoying stories about their lives. I enjoy the appreciation that I receive for helping them to do the things they can no longer do for themselves.”

Nadeen (age 70) – 2 years service

“I think working with seniors has been a natural progression for me. I raised five children and also worked in the school system as my children grew up. From there I managed a Day Care Center for 10 years. When my husband had a stroke, I cared for him for several years until his passing. I went to care for a client with Alzheimer’s for a few more years, so it has been a natural path for me. I enjoy taking care of those that are having a hard time caring for themselves or their loved ones. It is always nice to know you can be of service, and knowing that I am helping myself as well, is a win/win situation.”

Kathy (age 54) – 1 year service

“I love my job as a “Care Giver” because it not only makes me feel good, but I am constantly learning things that will help me help my parents when their time of change comes. Seniors, especially, need to feel that there are people who care and are there for them at the stage in their lives when they no longer can do many things for themselves. Even simple companionship is a gift. My job is rewarding but also challenging in that I don’t always know what to expect. It has helped me to grow as a person.”

Barbara (age 64) - 6 years service

“I bring to the Senior Connection, Inc. a background in social work and early childhood development, with six years providing care for my parents until their passing. My drive, incentive, and strength to do this work comes from a deep sense of human dignity – at every age of development… the last breath of life. I desire to be of service to my fellow neighbors, being of assistance, providing the necessary care to those in their declining years. I enjoy my job as a General Care Provider.”
